Zhubanov, Akhmet

Akhmet Zhubanov(1906-1968), Kazakhstan composer, was closely associated with the development and organization of professional music in the written tradition in Kazakhstan. He was the first Kazakh composer to write opera, vocal compositions and chamber music. He was also the first musician to adapt traditional music to western style. He founded the Kazakh National Orchestra. He composed opera, choral music, and film scores.
