Zander, Benjamin

Benjamin Zander(1939- ), American conductor, studied cello from early age, then studied at the State Academy of Cologne and University College London. In 1967 he joined the faculty of the New England Conservatory. In 1979 he was appointed as the music director and conductor of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra. He is known for his interpretation of the works of Gustav Mahler and his pre-concert lecture.
